This week on MD for Moms, I interview New Jersey’s premier gynecologist Dr. Wendy Hurst, about all the common questions women have but don’t ask at their annuals. We tackle those things you want to ask, but then opt not to after sitting with your legs up in the stirrups with a gown over your nether regions. For example, how to get rid of that awful summer itch from exercising in leggings, and when does an everyday yeast infection warrant a call to the doctor versus just a trip to the pharmacy? We break down which birth control is best for which woman, when to stop birth control pills before trying to conceive, what PCOS actually is and if cranberry juice can really treat a UTI. Other topics include fibroids, abnormal Pap smears, hormones, and peri-menopause.
Sounds like a lot, and it is, so we may make this into two shows if needed, because these are such important topics. Too many women are unnecessarily ashamed or uncomfortable asking their physician important questions. Women deserve to understand their bodies, and this is an invaluable opportunity to ask and learn from a master!
