Lisa Abramson | Mama’s Mind | Jan 16th 2019 | MD for Moms Radio

Catch us live Every Wednesday 1pm (ET) on The BBM Global Network, TuneIn and iHeartRadio or as a podcast on iTunes. Or listen right here anytime on our embedded player.

This week on MD for Moms, I’ll be interviewing Lisa Abramson, Keynote Speaker, Best-Selling Author, Executive Coach, co-founder of Mindfulness Based Achievement (MBA), Mother, and Postpartum Psychosis SURVIVOR. Lisa is a powerhouse –  she leads meditations, coaches people towards identifying ways to achieve greater success and happiness in life, probably all before breakfast!

Lisa is also incredibly honest about her experience with postpartum depression (PPD) and postpartum psychosis (PPP). Research suggests 1 in 7 women suffers from PPD, but this is likely an under-estimate given how many fail to report due to prevailing misinformation and stigma surrounding maternal mental health.

1 in 1000 women experiences PPP, which is considered a medical and psychiatric emergency and carries a 4% risk of infanticide and 5% risk of suicide.  The combination of this being a rare and a terrifying disorder means that most people don’t want to talk about it. But, precisely because it is scary is why it must be discussed. Lisa will walk us through her journey with PPD and PPP to improve awareness and understanding and hopefully help people realize the importance of getting mom help. Lisa will also explain her recovery process and how she regained her life again.
